St. Rita of Cascia High School Announces New Assistant Athletic Director

CHICAGO – AJ Avery ‘12, Athletic Director, announced that Michael Hardesty will be our new Assistant Athletic Director.

Michael grew up in the St. John Fisher Parish with his parents and younger sister until 2010, when him and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio. There, he attended Immaculate Conception and Bishop Watterson High School. Michael continued his education at The Ohio State University graduating with his Bachelors Degree in Economics in 2020 and his Masters Degree in Applied Economics in 2021. Shortly after graduation, Michael moved back to the Southside of Chicago, where he currently resides in Mount Greenwood.

With him, Michael brings a variety of skills to the St. Rita Athletic Department including:

  • Worked with Athletic Facilities/Operations for The Ohio State University, managing Football, Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Lacrosse programs from 2017-2021

  • Financial Analyst / Vendor Validation Associate - 2021-2022

  • Athletic Aide at the University of Chicago - 2022-2023

  • Chicago Cubs Event/Baseball Operations Associate - 2021-present

  • Volunteered at St. Rita for the 2023 school year until getting promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in 2024

“I am honored to be working at St. Rita, this is a special place that I fell in love with at a young age and can not wait to serve and assist future generations of Ritamen. In particular, I am honored to fulfill the role of Assistant Athletic Director,” Hardesty said. “My goal is to continue the strong tradition at St. Rita High School and expand the efforts of the school and its athletics. ”
