St. Rita of Cascia High School Announces Mustang Academic Program Teacher

CHICAGO – Josh Blaszak ‘02, Principal, announced that Patrick Cahill ‘20 has been named our new Mustang Academic Program Teacher.

Mr. Cahill grew up in Evergreen Park where he attended St. John Fisher. He attended St. Rita High School graduating in 2020. The Cahill Family is not shy to the St. Rita Family as Patrick’s grandpa, Robert ‘47, his two uncles, Robert ‘76 and Timothy ‘77, his two cousins, Joseph ‘09 and Kevin ‘11, and his two brothers, Connor ‘18 and Danny ‘23, all attended St. Rita. His sister, Claire Cahill, is also currently working at St. Rita as our Marketing Manager. Mr. Cahill went on to Loras College where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies / Special Education. He is currently working on his Masters in Special Education at Saint Xavier University.

“St. Rita has been a home to me for many years and holds significant value to me and my family,” Cahill said. “The St. Rita Community is filled with amazing teachers, staff, coaches, mentors, and families. I was once impacted by these amazing people so now it is my goal to impact current and future Ritamen.”

Mr. Cahill will be working with the Mustang Academic Program also known as MAP, which is beginning its second year at St. Rita High School. Provided by Superior Chicago Tutoring, this program is an opportunity for students to receive small group tutoring that supports classroom success. In addition, students also learn strategies like how to be successful students, test takers, and organized high schoolers. Each student participating in MAP has a resource period built into their schedule. The focus areas are Math and Reading/Writing.

“When St. Rita High School welcomed Superior Chicago Tutoring and together developed the Mustang Academic Program (MAP), this gave me the opportunity to educate, mentor, and support Ritamen in and outside of the classroom,” Cahill said. “More importantly, I have the opportunity to give back to my St. Rita Family.”

Mr. Cahill brings experience working closely with students in the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dubuque (2021-2024), serving as a Senior Instructor with Ken Malnar Golf Instruction (2020-2024), and serving his community as he worked with Beat the Streets Chicago on a sixteen-inch softball tournament for a service project focused on youth community based outreach. With a passion for teaching, Mr. Cahill is eager to bring enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to the classroom.
