Clare Napleton Receives Crest of St. Augustine Award

Our recipient of the Crest of St. Augustine Award at The 36th Annual Caritas Gala Valentine Dinner Dance is Clare Napleton (HON). Clare was born and raised in Oak Park and attended Trinity High School. She went on to attend Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN and Loyola University Chicago’s School of Law. Clare is an avid supporter of St. Rita of Cascia High School. When her 3 sons, Marty ’13, Frank ’18 and Luke ’20 were students at St. Rita, she was an involved mom as a parent volunteer helping at events such as Winterfest as well as coming out and cheering on the Mustangs at many baseball, football, and hockey games.

In January 2020, Very Rev. Anthony B. Pizzo, O.S.A., Prior Provincial of the Midwest Augustinians, asked Clare to consider the position of Board Chair as he trusted and valued her opinion. Clare then became the first female Chair of the Board. She relied on the guidance from Ernie Mrozek ’71 as his knowledge and insight helped her learn her new role, which allowed her to grow and develop her own leadership style. Clare has a strong and respectful working relationship with our Administration including President Deacon John Donahue, J.D. Ed.D. and Principal Josh Blaszak ’02, helping pave the way for continued success of our institution. Clare has been the Board Chair for 5 years and is an Honorary Alumna.

Her biggest supporters are her family – her husband of 32 years, Bob and 5 children – Marty, Nora, Patty, Frank and Luke! They have been squarely in her corner since day one, especially Bob, who provided the encouragement she needed to say ‘YES’ to fulfilling the mission of St. Rita of Cascia High School.

The Crest of St. Augustine Award is presented to members of the immediate St. Rita Family. The award recognizes individuals who set a special standard of generosity as they bring light and life to charitable and community endeavors. They accomplish this with not only their financial contributions but also their time and talents.

“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with our loyal and mission focused St. Rita Family,” Napleton said. “It is through this special relationship that I am honored to receive this award — a recognition that fills me with both gratitude and humility.”

Congratulations, Clare!
