The Merchant House is named in honor of St. Rita High School’s first African American student, Mr. McAlister Merchant. Amid an era of civil rights, Mr. Merchant enrolled at St. Rita in 1957 and was a member of the class of 1961.
The Merchant House represents the diversity present at St. Rita of Cascia High School.
