St. Rita of Cascia High School begins offering Shrine Tours to Grammar Schools

Students from St. Walter School learn about the lives of Blessed Mother Teresa Fasce and Pope John Paul II during the recent St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel Tour. Shrine Tours are a new offering from St. Rita of Cascia High School to local grammar schools.

On Tuesday, January 12th the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students from St. Walter School attended a Shrine Tour at the St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Avenue. This educational Shrine Tour is a new offering by St. Rita of Cascia High School to local Catholic Grammar Schools.

Hosted by Fr. Tom McCarthy, O.S.A., an Augustinian priest and President of St. Rita High School, the tour began with the amazing life of St. Rita of Cascia, Italy. From there, the tour presented the lives of the 14 saints and blesseds, who have shrines within the chapel: St. Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Teresa Benedicta, Blessed Maria Teresa Fasce, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, St. Martin de Porres, St. Patrick, St. Monica, Our Lady of Czestochowa, Our Mother of Good Counsel, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Augustine, Pope John Paul II, St. Joseph.

The students were given the opportunity to pray and explore the lives of each saint and blessed as they traveled from shrine to shrine that are complete with brief life story for each. The morning ended with the three-minute Novena to St. Rita of Cascia and each student receiving a blessed medal of St. Rita of Cascia.
