Twenty-seven St. Rita of Cascia High School Seniors Named Illinois State Scholars

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) announced its recognition of 19,345 high school students as “2010 Illinois State Scholars.” The students hail from 752 schools from all across the State of Illinois. St. Rita’s Class of 2010 has 27 Illinois State Scholars out of a total of 168 senior students. Therefore, 16% of the students in the senior class are Illinois State Scholars.

The St. Rita of Cascia High School Illinois State Scholars were recently announced. St. Rita’s Class of 2010 has 27 Illinois State Scholars out of a total of 168 senior students, 16% of the class. Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors. This year’s honorees stand with St. Rita of Cascia High School Principal Mrs. Sally Deenihan.

Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year.

“Excellent high school grades are tremendously important for laying the groundwork for future college success,” said ISAC Executive Director Andrew Davis. “Illinois State Scholars are the best and the brightest in our state’s high schools, and we salute them, their families and their teachers on this achievement.”

The following students of St. Rita’s Class of 2010 were honored with this special recognition: Austin Bilotto (Century Junior High), Terrence Brennan (St. Bernadette), Joseph Cairo (St. Cajetan), Daniel Dillon (Most Holy Redeemer), Robert Gallik (St. Christina), Ronald Garcia (Marya Yates), Matthew Goosherst (St. John Fisher), Roberto Hernadez (Nativity BVM), John Howard (St. John Fisher), Joseph Jasas (St. Barbara), Thomas Kelly (St. Bernadette), Joseph Loconte (Central Junior High), Mike Lopez (St. Benedict), Matthew McGowan (Most Holy Redeemer), William McGrenera (Queen of Martyrs), Zachary Moore (St. Barnabas), Matthew Murawski (St. Turibius), Bryan Przepiora (St. Daniel the Prophet), David Schrader (Hamlin UGC), John Sheedy (St. Gerald), Kyle Sheehan (St. Linus), Christopher Simms (St. Walter), John Starcevich (Century Junior High), Kyle Stearns (Orland Junior High), Thomas Sujack (Christ the King), Benjamin Velazquez (Kinzie), and Kevin Yerkes (Lenart).
