Coaching Staff

Mr. Tony Sosnowski – Sprints/Relays

Coach Sosnowski graduated from St. Rita in 2004 and was a three year member of the track and field team, as well as participating on the cross country and football teams. Coach Sosnowski attended Saint Xavier University and then went on to the University of Illinois at Chicago to specialize in history education. Returning to St. Rita in 2007, Coach Sosnowski took over the track and field program. Each year the team has had more conference champions and has sent several athletes down to the state championship meet. In the summer of 2010, Coach Sosnowski earned the USA Track and Field Level 2 Sprints certification. The Mustang track and field program has continued to build up the past few years and is looking to become a conference champion for the first time since 1994 as well as have its highest state placing in school history.

Mr. Pierre Nealon – Jumps/Hurdles

Coach Nealon is entering his third season as an assistant coach working primarily with the jumpers and hurdlers. He helped produce several Catholic League champions and top three finishers in jumping events as well as one indoor state qualifier. He also serves as a coach during the summer USATF series and helped produce two Junior Olympic national qualifiers, one national runner-up and two medalists at the USATF Youth Nationals. He also helped produce one national champion at the Hershey’s Youth Games. Coach Nealon is currently a USATF Level 1 Certified coach.

Rory Haran – Middle and Long Distance

Coach Haran graduated from St. Rita in 1995 after competing in Track & Field as well as Cross Country. From St. Rita, Coach Haran went on to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, which included coursework in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and coaching strategies. As a runner, Coach Haran is an experienced road racer in distances from 5k to the half marathon. In 2009 and 2010, the Running Mustangs repeated as IHSA Sectional qualifiers as each student progressed to late season PR (Personal Record) times. Coach Haran works primarily with the distance athletes during the track and field season and is entering his second season with the team.
