Tim McCarthy ’85 – Varsity Head Coach
Tim is returning to St. Rita after 14 years. He was an assistant coach in 1990 and Head Coach from 1991-1995. It is a great honor to be asked to return to St. Rita High School to coach the Soccer Program.. “From 1990-1995 I had the opportunity to meet and coach a tremendous group of Ritamen who have all gone on to be very successful in their careers and in their lives. I am equally excited about coaching our current group of young men and about the future of the program. During my absence I have had the chance to coach my children in AYSO and their Southside Catholic Conference teams and have enjoyed it tremendously.”
Bob Kellam ’92 – Co-Head Varsity Coach
Coach Bob Kellam returns to St.Rita with extensive experience in the game of soccer. As a player at St. Rita, Bob was honored with All-Catholic League, SouthTown Economist All-Area Honorable Mention and led the team in scoring his senior year. After graduating from St. Rita, Bob attended Moraine Valley College and played two years under the legendary coach, Nick Markulin. Bob then transferred to the University of Illinois – Springfield to continue his education and play soccer for this perennial national soccer power. During his two seasons at UIS the soccer team was never ranked below #5 in the NAIA national rankings, played in two NAIA national tournaments reaching the 1996 Final Four and 1997 Elite Eight. Bob has played for various local clubs and is currently the captain of the Chicago Police Team. Coach Kellam has a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Springfield and has coached at St.Rita (Freshmen 1998) and as an assistant at Moraine Valley Community College (1999). Bob is a licensed soccer coach by the US Soccer and in soccer fitness/conditioning by International Soccer Coach’s Association. In the summer of 2011 Coach Kellam was named the Community MVP by Major League Soccer for his contirbutions to soccer in the Chicagoland area and he’s distingushed career as a Chicago Police Officer. He was honored and received his award at halftime of the 2011 MLS AllStar game in New York.
Bill Heaney ’05 – Sophomore Head Coach

Coach Heaney is returning to the St. Rita soccer program after graduating with the class of 2005. During his tenure as a student at St. Rita, he was a four-year member of the Soccer program and earned All Catholic League honors during his Junior and Senior years. He also served as team captain during that time. Throughout his soccer career he also participated in club soccer teams, such as the Chicago Magic. After graduation, he went on to participate in soccer and baseball at Benedictine University but was limited due to injuries. Coach Heaney has a B.A. in Business Administration, and has recently been hired into the Office of Institutional Advancement at St. Rita. In 2010, he was the Head Coach of the Freshman baseball team at St. Rita and is excited to return to the baseball program in the Spring.
Kieran Kellam ’97 - Freshman Head Coach
Coach Kieran Kellam just completed his third season as the freshman head coach of St. Rita Soccer. In 2011, Coach Kellam and the Freshman took the Catholic League Championship. After playing throughout his four years at St. Rita, he continued to play in various club teams and leagues. Coach Kellam also teaches English and history at St. Rita.
By being a presence in school each day, he provides St. Rita Soccer’s student athletes with immediate access to the coaching staff.
