Read below about Seven Peruvians visiting St. Rita and becoming a part of the family…
Last week the halls were a little more full than usual with seven Peruvian students joining the St. Rita family for three weeks. St. Rita offers an international exchange program where members from Augustinian schools around the world can come to St. Rita for three weeks and experience American culture and what it is like to be a Ritman. Also, students from St. Rita have the opportunity to travel to their newly found friends’ school around the world and experience life in another country.
Seven Peruvian students, accompanied by a teacher and the Principal of their school, Colegio San Agustín, located in Chiclayo, Perú, have quickly become a part of the St. Rita Family as they discover American culture. Throughout their three week stay in Chicago, the exchange students have been enjoying family time with the St. Rita host families, attending school and after school activities as well as
exploring the city through visits to exciting places of cultural interest such as the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, the Museum of Science and Industry and Brookfield Zoo.
The St. Rita International Exchange Program has previously participated in exchanges with Augustinian schools in Sydney, Australia, Bilbao, Spain, and Hamburg, Germany. The international exchange program director, Stephanie Saul, understands the importance of the program for both St. Rita students and other Augustinian students around the world. “We look forward to establishing exchanges with other schools in our global community,” Saul stated. “Learning experiences of this nature perfectly embody our Augustinian Core Values of Truth, Unity and Love.”
