National Honor Society

One cannot join National Honor Society; he must meet the criteria, and if he does, membership is granted. The reason for this is that membership in the NHS is an honor, specifically, an honor granted in recognition of the student’s accomplishments in four areas: scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

If a student has a minimum of a ‘B’ average, has demonstrated character (via his discipline record), as well as leadership (via his participation with others in the area of activities), he may enter the National Honor Society during his Junior year on a probationary basis. He is then required to meet the service requirements, that is, he must complete at least six service projects from among twelve for which the NHS is responsible.

As long as all of the criteria have been met, the student will be officially inducted into the National Honor Society during his Senior year.
